Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2, 2026

Scout is not a financial advisor.

Scout provides informational and educational tools to help you understand your debt payoff options. Nothing in Scout constitutes financial, legal, or investment advice. All calculations are estimates. You are responsible for verifying all figures against your actual account statements and for any financial decisions you make.

Who Can Use Scout

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use Scout. By using Scout, you represent that you meet this requirement.

What Scout Is (and Isn't)

Scout is an informational tool that helps you organize your debts, compare payoff strategies, and track your progress. It is not a financial institution, a registered investment advisor, a credit counselor, or a lender.

Scout's recommendations — which debt to pay first, how much to allocate, when you'll be debt-free — are mathematical projections based entirely on the data you provide. They are not guarantees. Real-world outcomes depend on factors Scout cannot see: fees, interest compounding schedules, minimum payment changes, creditor policies, and your actual payment behavior.

You are responsible for verifying all calculations against your actual account statements before acting on them. Scout is not liable for financial decisions you make based on its recommendations.

Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You agree not to share your account with others or use Scout to manage debt on behalf of other people without their knowledge.

All debt information you enter is self-reported. Scout has no way to verify the accuracy of what you enter, and the quality of Scout's recommendations depends entirely on the accuracy of the data you provide.

No Warranty on Calculation Accuracy

Scout's payoff calculations use standard amortization formulas applied to the data you enter. We make no warranty — express or implied — that these calculations are free of errors or that they will match your actual creditor statements.

Interest calculations are approximations. Actual interest charges may differ based on your creditor's specific compounding method, billing cycle, fee structures, and other factors. Always treat Scout's numbers as estimates and verify with your creditors.

Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. Deleting your account permanently removes all your data.

Scout reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abuse of the platform, or use Scout for any unlawful purpose. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before termination unless the violation requires immediate action.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scout and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Scout — including but not limited to financial losses resulting from decisions made based on Scout's recommendations.

Scout's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for Scout in the twelve months preceding the claim (which, for free accounts, is zero).

Privacy

How Scout collects, stores, and uses your data is described in our Privacy Policy. By using Scout, you agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll notify you by email and update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of Scout after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Scout will be resolved in the courts of California.
